The Encounter in Copán Ruinas
On the journey through Latin America and on the footsteps of the Maya, I visited Copán Ruinas. A major Maya city during the Classic Period (roughly 250 to 900 AD). In the 8th century it experienced its heyday, but was soon abandoned and fell into disrepair. The ruins and a museum can be visited on the outskirts. During my stay I spent day and evening on the market square in front of the church and was approached by Carlos. He was on a study trip with his fellow students. A long conversation ensued about origin, travel destination, next plans and an appointment for the ruins. … One day before departure I was cordially invited to Nacaome, Valle.
I did the same during the further course of the trip.
