Farewell and Thank You

Dear Donors,

After many years of successful work, we have made the difficult decision to dissolve our Initiative Honduras. This decision was not easy for us, but we had to recognize that financial support alone is not enough. To successfully carry out our projects, we need active collaborators who can commit themselves continuously. Unfortunately, we increasingly lack these human resources, which is why we can no longer continue the organized work in this form.

We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thanks to your generous support, we were able to promote numerous schools in Honduras, Valle and provide many children with better educational opportunities. Your trust and loyalty made our work possible in the first place.

Forwarding Your Donations

All remaining donations will be forwarded in full to two proven aid organizations that have been supporting many school projects in Honduras with longstanding experience:

Lunches for Learning
This organization has been working in rural southern Honduras since 2004, providing nutritious meals daily to over 2,000 school children at 51 schools. Through this support, children can attend school regularly and complete their education. The dedicated staff on the ground made our previous activities possible and were indispensable partners in implementing our projects. Their many years of experience and personal commitment to the children of the region convince us that the forwarded donations are in the best hands here.

One Thousand Schools (formerly Students Helping Honduras)
This initiative has been engaged in Honduras since 2006 and has already built over 60 schools there. The organization has also established the village of Villa Soleada with a children’s home and a bilingual school, which now serves more than 250 students. With over 70 employees, predominantly Honduran nationals, and more than 7,000 volunteers who have helped on the ground, this organization provides sustainable development work. Their approach of not only constructing buildings but creating long-term educational structures is as important and right as the mission of Lunches for Learning.

The Work of Initiative Honduras Continues on a Smaller Scale

One member of our team will continue the support on the ground on a private basis. Once a year, he will travel to Latin America to carry out targeted aid projects and maintain direct contact with the schools and previous collaborators.
